500 Ouellette Ave
Windsor, ON N9A

Found 20 reports:

Found a bug crawling on the floor near my cube, captured and photographed it. Management claims that orkin has come in and determined there are no bugs. I hope that anyone who finds any will report this to management. These are disgusting creatures, second only to the refusal to do anything about them.

500 Ouellete is an extremely filthy work place. Mould is growing under the water cooler. The bathrooms are the dirtiest I have ever seen!

Company has forced employees to remove the Hazmat suits. An employee has called the Ministry of Labour and Health. They both said they would be within 2 days.

As an employer, what precautions can I take to prevent bed bug infestations and to protect workers?
Precautionary measures that you take against bed bugs will vary base

d on the extent of an infestation, but include:

Develop policies and procedures for reporting of bed bug infestations (on-site and off-site workplaces) by workers.
Keep records of infestations, including details of where and when infestations were encountered and the extent of infestations.
Provide education to all workers regarding bed bugs, including information on bed bug identification, signs of an infestation, and prevention awareness.
Implement integrated pest management activities through a licensed pest management service provider.
Provide coveralls, shoe covers, or gloves to workers if appropriate. Provide sealable plastic containers to protect workers’ equipment or belongings. Allow time for workers to change clothing.
Prepare laundering procedures for potentially infested work clothes. Provide a dedicated vacuum for removal of bed bugs from infested vehicles or equipment. Consider steam treatment of infested equipment or vehicles, under assistance of Structural licensed exterminator.

July 5th 2012- To follow up with user name "Once Bitten"

They only vacuumed the one row. Employees are forced to sit in the same affected row.

Precautionary measures were taken by those workers in that row, whereas they wore white suits in order to prevent/recognize the issue.

Management forced those employees to take of the suits and sit back in the same affected row.

It is July 4th 2012 and they have seen bedbugs on the fourth floor. They are currently vacuuming the area where it was seen. Let's see if they vacuum the whole floor or just that area.
What a pigpen this place is.

I've heard of bugs and roaches but nobody has seen any. I was told by my manager if we are able to catch one then we would have a case. If we have the proof they can't deny it anymore"

There was one caught and put in a plastic bag, yet nothing has been done.

I happen to work at the 500 building, 2 days ago I received 2 bites from an insect on my left foot.
They are very itchy and will not let up on the itching.
I will go to the doctor soon if I don't get some relief from the cream(s) I have bought at the shoppers.
I belive these bites are from bed bugs, but I would like to get them checked out first by a qualified doctor.

In our lunchroom there is a letter that they posted from Orkin pest control. The letter DOES NOT mention anything about bed bugs, it just states that there are no fleas. I think a lot of people here can determine the difference between a flea and a bedbug. There are products that actually catch bedbugs to show you of you do but it does not get rid of the problem. We should have a few of these to prove if there are bedbugs here or not.

About two weeks ago (it is currently the 26th of Oct) I was working at my cube when I noticed a little pinch on my wrist. Three bites formed instantly, the mots itchy I've had in a long time.
Nothing happened when I brought it up to management. They say that there is this "static electricity" that is shocking us and creating a "Bug Bite" Like reaction.

BS. If people who are working here DO in fact Know that they have the Bed bugs. Then fumigate your homes and DO NOT infest other public workp

laces.

I have heard reports of bug bites from multiple people at 500 Ouellette. I know of one person who quit because of them. The building floors that are in use by Sutherland are filthy and I'm surprised that we don't have more problems with infestation. Ever since that Domenic guy took over the whole floors are filthy. The walls in the mens washrooms are peeling from spalshed pee and I wouldn't sit on any of the toilets ever. There are people sneezing all the time because of the accumulated dust and

the floors are filthy carpet. If anyone brought in bugs from who they would love this filthy environment. I haven't seen nor heard a vacuum in this place for at least a year. It makes me itch just thinking about it.

Im so tired of being bite.

They are blocking us from seeing this at work. What they think it will go away?

Just got home. I noticed one in my bag.

I have been getting bit for the past month, I have bites on my neck, arms, legs, back, you name it. I have reported every time I have gotten bit with management. They have yet to do anything about the issue. I have been to many doctors all state that they are insect bites. If they are bed bugs is a question that has been left unanswered. As no one has seen the horrid red bug on the floor. The worst part of it is I am allergic to these bites and even though it is affecting my health they still wo

nt do anything. I heard that it is because they cant afford to shut the programs down for the 36 hours that is needed. Something like that, I think it is ridiculous.

Better add the 10th to the list we've seen several up here. Lots of bite marks. The boss just brushs it off.

Yes I had bites on my back that what was told to look like small red burn marks.

I understand how she feels. Two days ago on the fifth floor I had a couple red welts on my stomach and on my right leg. Hopefully our "Imagination" gets taken care of soon. I hope they didn't come home with me.

This is an office building. While working on the 4th and 5th floor I have been bite on my legs when i wear my dress. I saw one in the cubical on the 5th floor. I reported the problem to building matenance and showed them the bites. They deny any bugs in the building. Must be my imagination.
