550 Herring Cove Rd has always been a shithole and now with Atlantic Living, it will become a bigger shithole. This company is Transglobe under another name. If any of you ever lived in a TG building , you will remember the staff. They are the same. The persons that quit found this out and immediately gave notice. The company wont let them quit so, before the two weeks are up, you are fired. They fired Randy at the 500 blk for being ordered by a manager to throw stuff out. They didnt fire the cr

eep who gave the order. Simply, they just don't care about you or any tenant. Get on it now before its too late. You all live in a poverty area and people outside this lifestyle do not let creeps like atlantic living mistreat them

I live in this apt and sad to say the landlords and pest control were lying, it is not resolved and i am very disgusted on atlantic living, they are supposed to have a pest free envroment for tenants which they arent, I just bought new furniture and Im scared to take it if i choose to move, lazy bastards is what they are, you need to do each apt and all hallways to get these things gone. but they are to cheap to pay for this and only do one when reports come in...ive never had to deal with this,

and yes i am a very clean person, i know clean people can get them to but it helps to keep the clutter off floor so these things cant breed in it. I am out of options and dont know what to do. These things terrify me cause it can cost me alot to start from square one again. What are my options here?

Jg, I must say your post made no sense what so ever, number one the most recent post was from the pest control company themselves stating there were bugs and they r gone, you are dening everything and further more when you say that peoples apartments were dirty so they ended up evicted, sounds to me in order for you to do that you must have been illegally going in their apartment without the 24 hr rule when they r not home, because how would you know lot of them were dirty, not like you would go

around saying about a 24 hr notice to all these people. So pretty much u shoved your foot in your mouth there, idiot!

Every week i am seeing a new or different couch or mattress outside and i'm not seeing traps etc in or outside building? When can i look out for these exterminators that are suppose to be regular here?

I'm happy to let you all know that the bed bug issue at 550 Herring Cove Rd. has been resolved. The apt units in question that did have issues were vacated and we ( pest control) have eliminated the issue in those units. They did not spread as was expected. Also, during the summer of 2011. there was a local flea infestation covering the entire Roaches pond area up to and including Drysdale. We received calls for bed bugs that turned out to be fleas. The fleas potency has increased dramatically i

n their venom over the past number of years due to global warming and can leave sores and even bruises on your skin for over a year or longer. Worse for those who are allergic with respiratory issues. We have been called in by the owners not only to resolve the issue but to follow up in 550 and have done so. All is well so. please enjoy your building. Thank you

obviously it is someone from management for Atlantic living blaming filthy people for spreading the bed bugs.they may have you think they care but the way they look at tenants is money in the bank that is where it ends. they need to spray every unit in the building so there is no where for them to go but we all know there to cheap for that. I wouldnt even consider moving into any of there units. they may look nice but there is mold and bed bugs through all there properties in spryfield

My words were bedbugs are spread by filthy people, which is true because they don't care about their health or yours. I didn't say that only filthy people get them. Anyone can get them. But I'm sure all filthy people are there to thank you for defending them.

To the Stupid person who posted that only filthy people get bedbugs. Thats just a myth even the most cleanest people can get bedbugs so check your facts instead of posting something thats not true.

Why blame the building owners when bed bugs are spread by filthy people? Buildings don't create bugs. Neither do building owners. They are now a plague world wide. Blame never solved anything!!

The fact of the matter, people tend to use this as an excuse to get out of their lease and when you go in to see if this is true, there are no bugs to be found. We just had a case very recently which a young couple who wanted to get out of their lease and were saying that they had bed bugs in their unit. When confronted, they wanted to move to a closer to their work and had paid the damage deposit at the new place, thinking this trickery would work but did not work for the owner. Since

they can not get out of their lease, they will put out false adds to get back a the owners. Also people buy second had furniture and they might be buying bug or god knows what with it. Recently, some tenants kept their apartments very dirty and a few of them have been evicted for that reason.

We are the ones laying traps all over the building and we never any of these bugs on any of our traps. We spray for ants, humidity bugs, etc. We have a Pest control company who comes on a regular bases to lay traps and spray around the outside of the building and indoor in the common areas and they have found nothing. We are the ones who ensures the building is clear from anything and operating well and to the comfort of our tenants.

As of Nov. 2011, we are the new building managers and I will not move as this is a very nice building to live in.

Never ever had bed bug problem until I moved into 550 Herring Cove Road. The Super tried everything to blame me, but he never cleaned the Apartment before I moved in there. He is very, very sneaky, and he lies about things to you. He kept saying that my apartment was an isolated case, but I found out that there were 8 other people throwing their beds out because of the bed bugs, even the Super did it. I threw a lot of my stuff away after years of having it. Before I moved into the apartment in J

uly, I found out there was an infilstation of bedbugs in the building and the Super knew it. I talked to a friend that is a lawyer and he said if everyone got together that we could put a class action suit against the Super and the Owner of the buildings.

I moved into my 1 Br apartment last November, and it's only the third time I've ever lived in a rental place, since coming to Halifax in 2006 to attend Dalhousie University.
On May 31, 2010, I had my first ever experience of Bedbugs in my apartment, and I found the Super less than helpful for the matter. It would seem also that since this first time, after he asked me where I purchased my bed, box spring and mattress, that he believes that I acquired the bed bugs from a prior residence, or myse

lf personally, as though I have attracted them into the building.
I have previously lived in places with pretty serious mice problems, and lots of gross bugs, including a basement apartment that was tiled, but never bedbugs before; this includes two other places I have lived before now, with the very same bed, box spring, and mattress.
The Super keeps addressing the issue on a case by case basis, which I can see that on one hand, protects one's privacy, but I think is less than helpful for a situation like this, where source of the problem can come from numerous places, in particular other tenants or their visitors.
He told me last May, when this happened that I'm the only one.
Bullshit!
I am very certain there is no such thing as a single, isolate case of bedbugs for a person, because by nature of the infestation, is socially driven to people. I don't know anything else about how that works; I'm clean, I keep my place clean, but I have a lot of clutter most days...but I always did, and I'm not sure how or why I had to get bed bugs.
Now it's twice!
On August 3, 2011, I got them again, but honestly I had been putting up with them for several weeks since the last time, because of the huge hassle of having to move everything into the middle of the room before each visit and put it back, and also be out of my apartment for four hours.
This time, my Super has recommended that I get rid of my bed, mattress and box spring, as if it's an isolated case and they are the cause.
I am on Income Assistance and the bed is the only one I have; I have no outside family or other support besides Income Assistance, and am not employable for personal and health related reasons, so a low income place such as 550 Herring Cove is almost ideal for me, since nicer places in better areas cost much more in rent...
Anyway, I'm griping because the situation is frustrating to deal with, and it feels like the Super is practically useless.
The first night I lived there, he gave me a noise warning and also a second warning the night afterwards. He does this to me before he moved much further down the hall in the basement. The people above me are always dropping things and being really loud at late times at night, since I first moved in, but I don't think he has picked on them.
The Bedbugs issue, the noise issue, all of it is the apartment and all of its tenants; there is no such thing as an isolated case of bedbugs because they are social beings, and reside in social places where they can jump on things to feed. Guess I should learn from this, or perhaps just not live in Spryfield....
