Moved in in July and was infested by the second week. My word, braemar will tell you to wash, wash, wash everything, and spray over and over (I'm not sure they actually spray, but they say they do) but honestly, it's not worth even going through. I did everything I was supposed to do from day 1 and still had them come with me to my new place. That is when I realized - the problem is not going to stop until I throw everything out. Which is exactly what I had to do.

I was cleaning on my fourt

h week at Harbourview and witnessed a bed bug crawl out of the wall by the stove. The problem isn't just one floor or one suite, it's the entire building and it's never going to stop because the government banned the chemical in pest spray that actually kills them. They are in the walls, they are everywhere. I feel horrible that people that don't have much money go looking for cheap rent and get taken for all they have by this atrocity. Someone needs to be held accountable, there needs to be compensation for all those who lose out on money. I am out 3k not to mention the debt it out on my mental health. Please, do not rent here. It is worth your extra 50 bucks a month to go elsewhere!

I moved into this apartment July of 2015 with no problems. I came down from another province and had no problems. However we did not buy furniture just to be cautious in the beginning. Then in August Our place was infested with bugs. When we informed them they came and fumigated the apartment (without telling us how to prepare). Afterwards we thought it would be ok only to have to fumigate and wash everything in the house over and over for 3 months. They came and fumigated 2 other times but the

y just kept coming back. So we tried to find a new place to live as this one was not working out and I was tired of having nothing to sit on. However we got denied due to where we live. After that we tried to get a different apartment in one of the other buildings they owned and were pretty much denied for the same reason. I found this very unfair as we did not cause the problem. After the 3rd time of fumigation I also found out that my neighbor below me had the same problem, bed bugs kept coming even with no furniture and carpet. Once we are out of here I will never be back. I don't even want to pay them rent anymore but don't know what else to do :S

Why am I paying rent to live in a bug infested apartment? There was a chirping noise last night and I looked under my bed and there was a mouse! I am disgusted with the state of things and I can't get out of my lease! DO NOT RENT HERE! Also, Harbourview is paying Yelp to delete all negative reviews! Now that's phoney! People can't even be warned about this place now!

Moving out in 1 month due to bedbugs, my sister is eaten alive and we are out a lot of money. Cheap rent prices but NOT WORTH IT, you can't treat an individual suite and expect to eradicate the problem, the entire building needs to be aggressively treated by means of being demolished as it is infested beyond repair. I feel bad that Capreit bought these buildings, as it is ruining their reputation. I came from Ocean Brook Park in Bedford ran by Capreit and they were amazing, and absolutely no bed

bugs. If you do not want to lose your bed and couch, do not move here. We are both on the verge of mental breakdown because no one is getting any sleep and she is POLLUTED in bites. This is hell on earth.

In regards to recent reports we would like to outline the proactive steps taken since purchasing the 505 suites in July of 2012 and our most recent proactive treatment plan that has been successful in significantly eradicating the issue in most suites. In the fall of 2014 CAPREIT brought a certified canine unit into each unit both vacant and occupied to identify all units with or without a reported case. We are happy to report that the vast majority of our suites did not contain any hits and

any isolated active reports were aggressively treated along with neighbouring suites as a precautionary measure. Suites are then given mandatory follow up treatments until there are no longer any active reports in the individual suite.

It is also important to note we proactively treat our vacant suites as a precautionary measure and provide regular communication/education to our residents both individually and collectively. Like other landlords, hotels, and the multi family or hospitality industry in general we recognize this issue can arise and have been proactively monitoring and aggressively treating isolated apartments and encourage any prospective renter with concerns to contact a staff member about the building in general or a specific suite you may have interest in and we will gladly disclose any reports we have to offer piece of mind when moving into your new home.

I lived here before with my boyfriend and 2 children and never had any issues so we figured we'd move back when we needed more space because we had another baby.. BIG MISTAKE!!! We got our family to help us move in here again at the end of June spent hours moving everything in just to discover 2 BED BUGS the same night so we said fuck that got changed into clean clothes and left and have been living at my mother's place so luckily the little bastards never got a chance to bite me and my boyfrien

d and luckily none of our children were ever in there... we have since had our lease terminated.. they had the exterminator come in twice like he was supposed to but he was a complete moron and was not helpful what so ever didn't even do his job right half assed it if you ask me.. since we left we have had no choice but to go in there and throw out basically everything we own because it just isn't worth taking the risk of ending up with them at our new place when we move in there.. since we have been in there and clearing stuff out we have found TWO MORE LIVE BED BUGS one of which was in a room that apparently bed bugs wouldnt be in according to the exterminator so the fumigation didn't do shit all and we found a molted bed bug skin which was probably from when the last people were there because we haven't been staying in there to feed on us either way still fucking discusting!!! Management doesn't give a shit and why would they, they don't have to live there..this month has literally been a month of pure HELL for me and my family it has effected me so much so I am now extremely anxious, parinoid, and every time I have to go into that damn unit I have a god damn break down because just being in there makes me depressed.. THANK GOD we are getting out of there and we will NEVER EVER be back... to everyone out there considering moving here just DON'T I promise you will regret it I know we do...

Anarchy back here. So want to here something. Carpeit has pretty much ruined my life. Either day of fumigation or day after these fucking little pieces of shit still appeared but this time at my old home in sackville as of just today. Now I followed everything I was supposed to do to insure nothing was one me, my cats pet carrier, my cat, clothes and other personal objects. But they were still on me. Now one has been spotted at my home in Lower Sackville.

These people never told my Roommates

when they moved in that they have had a past of bedbugs. They had to find out via Internet and I found out the same way and by now having them on me. I am taking pictures of everything I own and giving them to capreit and having them replace my stuff cause this is absolutely ridiculous. I will be posting all this shit everywhere. It's not fair to have others suffer.

We loved everything about our apartment... the view, the 2 bedrooms, the location....except for the bed bugs that we got from day 1. It's not worth it! We were so keen on getting rid of them and staying and that we wasted 3 months of our life siliconing all the cracks in the floor and walls, bought a professional steamer, lived out of plastic bags.... The management didn't seem to care, and the exterminators they sent were definitely not "professionals". Even if they were, when they finally brou

ght the dogs in to see where they were coming from, they determined they were in the walls... There is no way anyone should live here under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Not even for free. Not even if someone would pay you to live here. DON'T DO IT!

Been living at this location for a month. Only till up to basically 4 days ago I started waking up to mysterious bite marks that became infect and I needed to be treated asap. We couldn't find the little buggers until today. I found two on my mattress. Both in their adult stage. Thank to hell I work back shift where I work cause they are more active at night. They have had this issue in the past and never told us. Never gonna deal with this company again.

I have bed bugs! In the past year I have had 3 sets of 2 visits each in "precautionary" spraying, which was fine we complied as who the hell wants bed bugs. Lo and behold, bed bugs we are currently in the process of being treated, found a LIVE bug the day after a spray and they refused to return, and refused to give us a new unit.
I have lived here for 3 1/2 years and the problem has never been worse.
the bugs are EVERYWHERE in building one. Bugs on 14th floor, 9th floor and 2 and 3rd floors

that I know of. They offer really great referral bonuses and we regret ever asking a friend to come live here because they moved in a bedbug apartment. oops!
Management seems to have NO IDEA about the extent of the problem, or they just don't care.
Do not trust them if they tell you there are no bugs. they do not inform neighbors of infestations until its way too late, they give very short notice of spraying (24 hours) and are generally incompetent.
new units renting at 100$ less than my current rent! great deal if you love living with a colony!

I lived in Building 1 2309 Brunswick 6th floor. Moved in summer 2013 . They came to do preventative Bed Bug fumigation about 6 months after living there and about 2 months later I had bedbugs. I reported it and they came and did another fumigation. We kept an eye on things and at some point I believe they came through a gain (more prevention). This was all done through Orkin. We would still see signs of bugs here and there. In October of 2014 they changed companies a brought in a dog k9 to all t

he apartments in the building. We did not hear anything from them, assuming we did not have anything... We gave in our notice that we were leaving for jAN 1ST in November. (by this time we had switched to month to month) and a week later we got a letter under the door saying that there had been evidence of bed bugs on our couch and in a wall in the bedroom and they were coming for treatment in 24 hours.. THEY NEVER THOUGHT TO TELL US EARLIER!! ??? We checked our couch and sure enough we found some... After the last treatment we threw away our couch, and our bed and all bedding , cleaned everything we could in hot water and put it all in plastic bags because our worst fear was to bring it to the new location. So far so good, it's been 3 1/2 months and very expensive. It was not pleasant, management does seem to be TRYING to do something, but I think the only way to get rid of the problem is to do it like in Breaking Bad. EVERYONE out and do the WHOLE FRIGGIN BUILDING. Which is not really possible so , expect bed bugs if you live here.

Bedbugs and Mice everywhere...

I live in building one, with the new owners and I can tell you for a fact they are running rampant with bedbugs and management is doing nothing. We have had two scheduled fumigations, they never showed. Capreit does not care about their tennants. They know full well about their many pest issues and continue to sign on new renters daily.

I am sorry about any past pest issues anyone has had. I can only address the issues since we have taken over the buildings, but I can promise we are doing our best to address any concerns anyone has.
This is a letter that we have sent out to Tenants recently about the work we have been doing:

Dear Residents,
As you may have noticed, the CAPREIT team has been working diligently to address any pest issues encountered since taking over management of Harbour View. Our process has included hirin

g a reputable and proven organization to take the site through a pro-active process of investigation and treatments. Each suite has been extensively examined by specialized canine unit and where any pests were found the suite is being treated with the best solutions that are available. We also treat the block of suites around the issue to stop the spread of any problems. At the 21 day mark, after a treatment, we re-treat if necessary and at 45 days we will once again engage the canine unit to look for any remaining trouble spots. Our treatments carry a one year guarantee and with the assistance and cooperation of all of our residents we soon hope to be certified pest free by our specialists. There are many other smaller tactics being undertaken to address pest issues, so rest assured we are going above and beyond to make Harbour View a place everyone wants to come home to.
If you would like to report a concern, please do so in order for us to address your issue immediately before it becomes a wider problem. Also, if desired by our residents, we will hold an education session with an expert on pest control to address any concerns you might have and to extend tips on how we can work as a community to create a clean and comfortable environment for everyone. If you are interested in attending one of these sessions please contact us at [email protected] or drop in to the office.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Sincerely,
CAPREIT Management

Hi there. I don't want the previous posts to care anyone. I just moved into the 14th floor and have had NO issues. Management is new the building is now owned by a huge company CapREIT and they are putting millions of dollars into the buildings. Before moving in I had requested to have all the carpet replaced with plank flooring, it was done. The entire apartment was renovated and once I moved in, I had a few other minor requests (recaulking, shower and outlet repairs) and the maintenance crew w

as on it withing 24 hours. They've been nothing but fantastic. No bed bugs or bugs of any sort in my apartmnent. They are gutting every floor basically and cleaning up BIG TIME. For the location and space in my 2 bedroom with an amazing view of the harbour, it's a great place to live for those on a budget. DT is always a rougher area to live, just be smart! No complaints here.
CAPREIT is working hard to rid the bad reputation, and I figure I'd say something positive since everyone here is bashing the building from the past.

Lived there for two years and had no problems (apart from the odd mouse), then suddenly in spring 2011 both myself and my girlfriend started to get bites, we had to endure 6 months of this and even compeltely section off one bedroom of our two bedroom apt before we finally could afford to move. When we left we had to dump 2 couches, all bed clothes and an expensive mattress and base. The maintenace people did the best they could to help us but its an epidemic there. We are glad to be rid of the

place.

I moved out last month and lived there for a year on the 5th floor. i did not have a bed bug issue but other people in all 3 buildings have had issues. We did have coachraoches everywhere! and no matter how many times they sprayed they kept coming. They also suck at maintence , we've had a hole in the bathroom from mold that I even fixed myself because as much as we would complain to them and try to get them to fix it they never came.. Don't live here! it sucks

To the people below who commented saying this place is a nice place to live and you havent had any issues, you are 100% in denial!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These places are absolutely disgusting and yes there issues in other building the only difference is is they take action. And trust me I've done my research as I fought with Transglobe in tenancy court after leaving after seven months and three of those months trying to get help from the staff there and no one did a thing!!

Anyone who says this

place is a nice place to lives I'm sorry to say disgusts me! I have never experienced anything like I did living in these complexes, I wish I would have done my research before moving in! These buildings should be closed the hell down!

And again to the people "who just love the view, and think its such a nice place to live"-keep thinking that as your body evetually gets scared, or you have friends over and you have cockroaches running everywhere, or bedbugs crawling up the back of your couch, or you hear the mice in the walls, suffer from sleep issues because you dont want to sleep!!!!!!!

By far the worse experience of my life! And if you call that a "nice" place to live you need your head checked!! Because all of the Ocean Towers buildings have issues with these just read!!!!!

DO NOT MOVE IN THESE BUILDINGS-WISH I COULD SHUT THEM THE HELL DOWN!!!!!! I HATE YOU TRANSGLOBE AND IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN I COULD COUNTERCLAIM MY HEARING I WOULD HAVE FOR THE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS I LEFT LAYING IN THE MIDDLE OF MY APARTMENT (THAT I JUST WANT TO ADD MY SUPER WANTED WHEN LEAVING ALL OF MY STUFF IN A PILE, AND I MEAN EVERYTHING BUT THE CLOTHES OF MY BACK, WANTED TO KNOW IF SHE COULD TAKE SOME THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EXACTLY WHY THEY DONT GET RID OF THESE ISSUES BECAUSE IT IS NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY!!

OCEAN TOWERS IS DIRTY AND TRASHY!!!!!!!!!!

Me and my wife moved into 2309 Brunswick in January 2011. We asked about bedbug issues, and they said that they were aware of problems in the past, but that there have been no active cases for quite some time.

Stupidly, we moved in anyways. After our third month, we started to get bites. We were in denial for a few weeks (as we couldnt find any of the typical signs of bedbugs) but soon we found our first live bug.

The building reps are very good at having spraying done, and we had mul

tiple sprays done in our townhouse. after the 3rd or 4th spray (not including spraying i did on my own), the problem subsided, and we were clear for about 4-5 months.

I woke up this morning with a plethora of bites on my back. So it is clear the bugs have returned. we learned that our dirty neighbours are infested, which is where they came from in our case.

This building is beyond infested, and is beyond being fixed...

And this doesnt even mention that we have been infested by German cockroaches for our entire year of staying at Ocean Towers. Have even had mice that eat our cat's food (i watched one do this while i was watching TV! sneaky buggers).

This building should be shut down due to health concerns and properly dealth with. It has cost us hundreds of dollars just doing our laundry and linens, and buying cleaning supplies. DO NOT MOVE IN HERE.

bed bugs.

Ocean towers is INFESTED with PESTILENCE and VERMIN!! If you sleep there you will wake up with DOZENS of ITCHY, PAINFUL, DISGUSTING BITES ALLLLLLL over your body. People who say Ocean Towers is a nice, clean place to live are in OBVIOUS DENIAL! You will lose your furniture and anything that can't be washed in an INDUSTRIAL HEAT producing washer machine. Ocean Towers is the TRIFECTA of filthiness and just some of the pests include BEDBUGS, COCKROACHES, AND RODENTS. Even up on the 16TH floor they

are infested. Which can only mean one thing... The entire building must be riddled with them. The so-called "Management" at Ocean (SLUM) Towers WILL NOT reimburse you for lost possesions to these INFESTATIONS. ALSO they screw you around when trying to book your apartment for a CHEMICAL SPRAYING (WHICH IS HARMFUL TO PETS AND HUMANS) giving you wrong dates and times or not even showing up at all. So this is my WARNING to all of you out there who are thinking "Hmmm Ocean Towers can't really be that bad can it?" Well think again people, this place will wreak EMOTIONAL and PHYSICAL HAVOC on you. No one wants to be physically scarred for life right? Well the bed bug bites are SO itchy it's INSATIABLE leading you to scratch THROUGH YOUR SKIN leaving you PERMANENTLY DISFIGURED! I IMPLORE you people to please listen to this post. No one should go through the LIVING HELL which we had to experience this past year at Ocean Towers. Cause what EXACTLY are the odds of you moving in there to a pest free apartment? Don't take the chance people. STAY AWAY FROM OCEAN TOWERS!!!!!!!!

I am a current tenant of ocean towers and have been for over 3 years. Never have I had an issue with bugs or seen one. I would advise people who are concerned about bugs to contact other potential rental places as they are a problem in every building. They are in the movie theaters and in the pubs downtown... I've spoke to some bartenders and they said they've had issues with the pests for years. ocean towers is a great place to live, the supers are great, they are very helpful. highly recommend

ocean towers to any new renters. They have great prices and its really its own community.

I live in 2309 Brunswrick St and everything was OK when I moved in( Sep 1st ) I found these bugs around Feb and I am .... still fighting with them...but the good thing is I WILL MOVE OUT ON SEP!!!!!!!

I moved into Ocean Towers almost a year ago and I have had no issues with bed bugs. I moved into the building having heard that they did have an issue with them in the past (WHO HASN'T) but they assured me they are very aggressive in terms of pest control. I Love the view and I love the building. Im very happy I didn't let what I read online deter me. Looking forward to another year here

I found a bedbug about a month ago, after waking up to 10's of bites every morning and not knowing what the hell was going on. I immediately called my super and she handed me a sheet that says the building is having a problem with bedbugs. My apartment has been sprayed twice, I vacuum every inch of this apartment daily, and I still wake up with bites. I'm so sick of this place.

My son (in the Navy) moved into Apt. 1401 at 2309 Brunswick St and after signing the lease got the gift. Bedbugs. They sprayed. They go. They come back. I'm visitng in July - one bite and look out.

I had signed the lease before moving in, and took a large financial hit when I moved out. Ths first night, it was fine. The second night, I was eaten alive. The third night, I slept out on a sidewalk somewhere, with a sleeping bag. Torturous!

But I found this campaign:

and I feel better about my life (they are collecting stories about people screwed over by Transglobe so they can shape a campaign against the company directly, hopefully warn more people agains

t renting there. Send them your stories by email!)

I moved into Ocean Towers on Gerrish ST, off of Brunswick Street, and the first night there were cock roaches EVERYWHERE, mostly in the Kitchen! After 2 weeks of being there, we realized there were bed bugs too! We complained everyday and it took 3 weeks to finally get the place sprayed which did NOTHING! Thank god I never signed the LEase and left after a month of living in hell!

I discovered these nasty critters this week. Discovering the actual bugs explains the rash my wife has had for over a month now. Bed bugs have been and issue in Ocean Towers now for a couple of years and I had believed that they were only and issue in the 2 other towers and not mine. Now I know that this is a issue with all of the buildings. This compounded with the fact that we have been fumigated twice for cockroaches and they are still very plentyful.
This is the last straw for us, we are g

etting fumigated then moving, hoping that our stuff can be saved that way/

They were everywhere! My building manager told me that its a rare thing and no one really gets them anymore. Come to find out tenants in Tower 2 had entire floors getting sprayed for the bugs. My apartment got sprayed 3times in one month and they still weren't gone. Had to move out and throw out all my furniture. I guess bed bugs are beyond common in Ocean Towers. YUCK!
