I moved into Suite 4, 277 River Ave on September 12th. Within 2 days I was getting bites, and I didn't know what they were from. At first I thought they were mosquito bites, but they were too itchy. I thought that maybe spiders were biting me in the night. After a week of getting bitten I went to my caretaker and asked him if he'd had any similar complaints. He asked me what suite I was in. When I told him, he said "Oh, THAT one." It turns out that that exact apartment had just had a HUGE bed bu

g infestation right before I moved in, and no one told me.

They had an inspector come in the next day, and he couldn't find anything. He left a bunch of sticky strips and I was told that they would not fumigate until a bed bug showed up in one of these "traps". After a day and a half of catching nothing but basement bugs and and a small spider I got fed up and crawled all over my bed checking every seam until I found one myself. I put it in a ziploc bag to show to my caretaker as proof.

I've done a lot of research on bed bugs, and I now know that they are one of the most difficult pests to get rid of. The exterminators will be fumigating my apartment but not my neighbours (they will just "inspect" them). The likely outcome of this is that some of the bed bugs will flee into tiny cracks in the walls and make their way to adjoining apartments, and they will come back, just like they did this time. I am outraged that my property manager is doing the absolute minimum required by law, when it is obviously not enough. What makes me even more furious is that I would not be in this situation at all if they had taken five seconds to tell me that there had been bed bugs in that apartment. No one in their right mind would knowingly move in. I know I wouldn't have taken the chance.
