In response to report on 10/17. Both rooms were inspected by licensed pest control company. No traces of bed bug presence were found.
Guests were moved from one room to another, but for mechanical reasons that have since been repaired.
Hotel was renovated in August 2012 and all mattresses were replaced.

My roommate was bit by one on his face last night in room 216. We moved to another room. Good luck to us. I tend to react poorly to bites.

Over the past 4 or 5 years, local and national news organizations have run stories about bed bugs in hotels. This past summer, news organizations ran stories about bed bugs in upscale clothing stores, theaters, and other places where people congregate.
Bed bugs are “hitchhikers” which spread from place to place by hiding in the clothing and other personal effects of travelers who are generally unaware of their presence. If luggage and articles of clothing become infested in one hotel,
then, unbeknownst to the guest, bed bugs can be transported to another hotel; cleanliness, or a lack of cleanliness, are not the cause of the problem. From well known high priced hotels in New York City to small non-branded hotels in rural areas, no segment of the lodging industry has been insulated from the problem.
Those of us in the hotel industry have become much more knowledgeable and proactive about eliminating bed bugs. Our housekeeping staff is trained to look for bed bugs. We also have a pest control service which makes regular inspections of our motel. Since a motel room can be free of bed bugs one day, and infested the next, we act promptly to eliminate the problem. While it is a rare occurrence that can’t be prevented, we take prompt action and make sure that our guests have a comfortable and pleasant stay.
