We stayed in room 230 of the country inn and suites at 8010 West Broad St. In Richmond , Va on November 1, 2012. On November 2nd we returned to the hotel at about 4 PM to find our room (rm 230) door unlocked and the dead bolt extende preventing it from latching. The bed was disabled, the furniture turned upside down or sideways on the floor and the bedding on the floor. Our luggage was not there. We went to the desk concerned weather this was hotel activity or a misdeed. The desk said t

here "was a massive leak" and we were assigned the room across the hall. After going to our new room, we were missing papper work left in the old room. I entered to geg the papper work and was curious about the "leak". As I looked I didn't see anything wet and since the bed was taken apart I thought the leak must be in the ceiling. That is when I noticed some stains on the wall above the headboard and picture hanging above the headboard. I also noticed two bugs that may have been dead beside picture that appeared to be the same size and color of adult bed bugs. I also recalled a Terminx truck and the driver entering the hotel when we left earlier that day (about 10AM). We confronted the clerk and she called the manager who said the room had "maintenance performed" but would not say what was done (this was a phone conversation with my wife and the manager). Later in the evening, my wife noticed a red rash on her right cheek and believes that she was bitten by a bed bug. The hotel Clark said she could identify bed bugs and said she would look. When we asked her she said she didn't see the bugs that we had seen a nd the door to the room was locked so we could no longer enter. While we do not have absolute proof and can no longer get it, we do believe it was bed bugs and the hotel staff vas less than truthfully with us. We subsequently checked out and went to another hotel. We were offered upgrades and discounts by the manager but not the truth about what happened to our room.
