NOTE: let me say at the outset that the employees of this hotel have always been good to stay with, polite, professional, just down right pleasant.

This is not about "them" but, rather about how LaQuinta handled a serious situation.

1 November 2011
checked in at 8:30 p.m. with reservations.
so, we moved into rm 1017

By 10:30 we began to notice bed bugs, itching, bites.

called front desk, no answer. went down and rang front desk bell, no answer.

called the LaQuinta 800 number.

Then the desk clerk showed up. at the 800 number i spoke with April LQ Login # 1092. she said she had never encountered a bed bug complaint and did not know what to do. my wife came down to the front desk with more live bed bugs and explained what had to be washed, dried, and at what temperature.

April was getting off duty at 3:00 a.m. and did not have much to say helpful. LaQuinta needs to train their people how to better respond to these situations. April did suggest that i speak with the hotel general manager.

the front desk clerk said the hotel GM would not answer at this time of morning ~1a.m. central. I asked her if the hotel was on fire are you saying the GM would not want to know? Get the GM on the phone. she did.

the GM said there wasn't anything he could do tonight other than offer another room and that he would be in at 9am.

I told him that the hotel management, him included, has exhibited a rather bizarre lack of concern for the health and safety of its patrons. He will call me in the morning when he arrives.

OK, desk clerk provided a key to the only spare room tonight on 3rd floor rm 3024. my wife and i looked at rm 1017 closer and found bed bugs in other places like on the walls and bed bug eggs in creases in chairs etc. while washing clothes at 2 in the morning my wife went up to 3024 with a flashlight and found bed bug eggs in the creases of chairs there. she took her laptop back up to 3024 to see if the heat from it would draw the bed bugs as that is what we believe happened in rm 1017. we shall see.

this is going to be an expensive trip. the rest of this story is still unfolding. how la quinta treats its patrons good ... or bad ... will be available soon.
