May 2014:

I stayed at the hotel for two nights. After the first night, I noticed two red skin marks (shoulder and chest), but didn't think anything of it yet since I thought it was a mosquito bite or skin irritation. The second morning I awoke with more red marks on my arms, back, buttock, and thigh. I found a blood "dot" on the sheet, I believe from being bitten, and saw little black dots on the mattress. When I asked the lady at the front desk if there had ever been problems with bed bug

s, she said she didn't know of anything, and offered to come look for bugs or change rooms. I said no because it was already morning and about to check out in a couple of hours anyway. She said she'd talk to the owners when I asked her if she could talk to them, and told her I would be putting up a review. I didn't hear from the owners, and finally called hotels.com to ask for a refund. The hotel only agreed to refund one night, and hotels.com gave me a voucher for the second night. I'm glad they worked with me, but still upset with the prominent red marks.

Aside from that, the location of the hotel itself was good, and the front desk lady was helpful and polite while I was upset.

In summary, I did not see actual bugs or witness being bitten, but I did wake with red marks on my body, saw a red spot on the sheet, and black dots on the mattress. Other people looked like happy campers, but I won't be staying there again.
