This building is invested with bedbugs. Do not move here. For a duration of 2 years I lived here, and the bed bug problem was on and off, as the bugs live in the walls and come out in the apartments at night. The management is terrible - as they do not care about the condition of the building. Basement and stairwells are always dirty.

I am looking to moving into this building and was wondering if this issue has been taken care of?

The most recent studies indicate that a well-fed adult bed bug held at room temperature (>70° F), will live between 99 and 300 days in the laboratory. Unfortunately, we do not know exactly how long a bed bug might live in someone’s home or apartment. No doubt it will be at least several
months. However, conditions are usually more challenging for the bed bugs living in human dwellings than they are in the laboratory (finding food, fluctuations in temperature and
humidity, the presence of insecticides, avoiding being crushed, etc.) and these conditions will have a negative impact on bed bug survival. A recent laboratory study has shown that starvation has a negative impact on bed bug survival. This modern study European studies conducted in the 1930s and 40s, when it was determined that bed bugs could survive periods of starvation lasting more than one year. The bedbug is, as we know, energetically photophobic; it hides in the darkest cracks and leaves only during the night. In the daytime, says Bohn, if an accident has brought it from the shade into the light, it immediately executes a rotation of 180 degrees, which brings it into the shadow. On a sheet of paper, it walks away from the luminous rays and turns about when one holds a candle toward it.It is very difficult, adds Bohn, to make a bedbug which is on a black paper pass over upon a piece of white paper. Anytime a Bed Bug is startled by a handheld candle or light of course it's going to run and hide. A Bed Bug chooses a white paper over other colors when not disturbed. Negative phototaxis testing is flawed. Bed Bugs have Positive Phototaxis. U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Bed bugs, a 1937 Leaflet No. 146, Great 8 pages, stating, Bedbugs are normally nocturnal. When the lights are out they emerge from their daytime hiding places and seek to feed upon their host. Sometimes, when very hungry, they will feed during the daytime in subdued light. Their normally nocturnal habit is modified necessarily when they infest furniture in restrooms in stores, theater seats, desks in offices, and similar situations that are not frequented by man throughout the night. In such places, bedbugs often bite persons during the day.Bed Bug Statements: Bed bugs are nocturnal but may feed during the day in areas with reduced lighting such as theaters when no hosts are present at night. In March 2015, a neighbour in our low-rise building told us she found bed bugs in her apartment and that the landlord was treating her apartment and only the adjacent units to her's.There are only 6 units on our floor so all units are close in proximity to each other. To put it further into perspective, our unit is only two units from her's. She warned us about the bedbugs as a good samaritan and urged it might be in our interest to request a treatment to our unit as well – we agreed, it

made the most sense as a preventative measure. Our landlord, unfortunately, disagreed.

We emailed our landlord requesting our unit to be treated and he said that unless we don't have symptoms, we do not "require" one. It is now June 2015, and my body is now covered in bites. I noticed bites in April but I thought it was only dry skin/eczema as it wasn't severe. Today, my entire back is covered in little bites that have scarred.

Our landlord kept all of this hush-hush and hasn't told anyone else in the building except the units he has to treat. We asked him deliberately to treat our apartment but said UNLESS we have symptoms, it is "Unnecessary". Clearly, fumigating just the few did nothing for the rest of the floor.
