I stayed 2 days with my girlfriend at the Econo Lodge Downtown Ottawa, located 475 Rideau St.
She complained being itchy after the night, but we did not pay more attention than that to it.
HOwever, after we came back home, she kept being itchy and having marks of bits from animals. One month later, I found out that my bed (which was new as the unit, purchased a few month before, in downtown toronto) was significantly infected by bed bugs. I had a company come to get rid of them.
And after considering all options, it is sure that we got those bed bugs from this Ottawa hotel.
Just wanted to share the experience to avoid such inconvenience to other travellers.
