Today, two months after the problem was first reported we wanted to state that the problem is under control. We have hired a professional exterminating company- 21st Century Pest Control who has been attending to each and every bed bug complain promptly for two months. The apartments with problems have been treated multiple times so far. We have achieved a good result with our tennats co-operation. Steam and vacuum method is being used. We have advised each and every tennat of the steps taken and of the current situation as the management.
We are aware that we can only cure this problem with the tenant's help and professional treatments.
If anyone wants to see documentation of what has already been done in the building they are free to contact the management at 212 447 6848.

THE LANDLORDS ARE A BUNCH OF LYING, STEALING, DIRTY, PEOPLE WHO DON'T CARE ABOUT THIS BUILDING AT ALL OR IT'S RESIDENTS. It is true that the management has now sent professional exterminators and are dealing with the problem. But it was too late. The issue is that they first sent an exterminator who only sprayed - didn't vaccum or steam - and the bed bugs spread quickly throughout the apartments. I have not slept the whole night for six weeks now- no wonder we are all cranky.

Obviously we are dealing with immature people and they'd rather curse and call names instead of working with management to cure the problem.
The exterminator was in the building yesterday once again, a lot of tenants who don't have the problem made appointments for inspection, problem apartments were treated again.

I am the property manager of 231 Second Avenue. I was informed of this problem via an e-mail received from a tenant who was on vacation in Florida on 12/29th. She mentioned that her room mate saw a bug, I sent the exterminator the next day to identify the bug and we instructed them to do the preparation for a bed bug treatment regardless. Tennat called me back to let me know that they were ready and the exteminator went there the same day. I have sent him back multiple times to her apartment. We started a lawsuit with the tennat residing below her that was not giving us access to treat their apartment . We brought in a special crew to help apartment next to the treated one to clean up, we had a dumpster brought in and we disposed of their mattresses, bedding, furniture. All their belongings were put in bags and taken to the basement where they are being treated with chemicals for two weeks. We supplied them blow up beds. Every apartmnet in the building was inspected and treated as a precaution. I don't accept to be called a moron. We have done everything in our power , advised every tennat in writing to let us know if they were having problems. We hired a second exterminating company to attend to this problem, to oversee if everything was done effectively and to use their means to cure this problem. If there is any tenant that can tell me to my face that the management did not address the problem I suggest that they call us directly at 212 447 6848 and give me their names. This is a New York wide problem and we have followed every step of the process that we were suppossed to as the management. We are open to suggestions if any of our tenants have besides what has been done. This problem can only be resolved if the tenants co-operate with the management and do their part instead of calling us names.

This building is infested with bed bugs..... The management are a bunch of morons and ARE DOING NOTHING TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. All i know is i don't want to live like this nor do my neighbors so i think everyone in this building who is affected by this should bring a lawsuit against the landlord !!!!!!

I moved in about a week ago to this building, having been reassured that bugs of any kind were not an issue. I have now come to find out that over half of the apartments in my building, including my next door neighbors, have been infected with bed bugs. The management is terrible and not addressing the issue nor taking care of the problem. Many people are going to move, myself included.

Problem started in November, don't know how. Several apts in this building have it, 2A , 7, 8 and 11.
