I have lived here for years and there were no bed bugs in the building until recently. I have not had any in my suite yet and have been vigilant in vacuuming and checking my furniture.
My guess is the bed bugs were most likely brought in by the tenant who brought home a used mattress, which I believe was found in an alley.
I agree that the landlord has appeared to be inactive in preventing or treating the building for bed bugs. All he did was leave a can of Raid outside my door.

Bed Bugs were located on the floor above me in Dec. 08. So far the rest of building checks out. For how long, who knows. One year and counting...
The thing that bothers me the most is the landlord's inactivity to do anything. This has been going on for a year and one of the other tenant's is freaking out because his less than one year old furniture is now infested.
