Shan
Thank you for staying at the Memphis Marriott Downtown.
If you have the opportunity, I would like to speak with you in regards to your experience that you had in May.
The hotel has very specific protocol in which we follow when any reported potential bed bugs are brought to the hotels attention.
This would include calling a nationally recognized 3rd party Pest Control company to ensure transparency during the investigation.
Please contact the hotel and ask for the Director of Operation

s, Rooms and I would like to discuss further your experiences at the hotel.

Had the worst experience! Please don't stay here. I had a severe reaction from bed bug bites and at least 50 bites! I cried for over a month from the pain and the itch. I told the hotel right away. They didn't do anything. They didn't even offer us another room!

It's funny that the hotel management comes on here and pretends to care. What a joke!

We stay at Marriott everytime we travel and that's quite often. You would think that Marriott would have looked up our history and tried to a

t least move us. They just stood there and said "thanks for telling us". Did absolutely nothing! It's been a while since our trip but after looking up the status of another hotel, my husband checked this hotel again. After reading what management wrote I felt that I had to tell others.

Dear Valued Guest,

We greatly appreciate you taking the time to share with us your experience.

We also appreciate and recognize that BedBugRegistry.com is an open source site that allows posts without validation or confirmation. As a result, we have engaged our third-party provider to research each of the claims posted and are happy to report no activity or presence of bed bugs. For the guests that have posted anonymously, we invite you to contact us directly, so that we may address your

individual concerns personally.

The presence of bed bugs is not related to general hotel cleanliness. Bed bugs are most often carried unintentionally into a hotel by guests in their luggage or on their clothing. We take hotel hygiene and sanitation very seriously. As a result, Marriott has established very strict standards of cleanliness for all its hotels that either meet or exceed public health department regulations, including pest control. In the unusual event we are made aware of a concern, we respond immediately to the situation and take the appropriate steps to remediate whatever problem is found.

Our housekeeping and engineering associates receive proactive training designed to educate them on the detection of bed bugs during regular room cleaning and servicing tasks. This training includes corrective action protocols to be implemented in the unlikely event evidence of bed bugs is detected.

For each report of bed bugs, the guest room and surrounding rooms would be immediately removed from inventory and Marriott’s expert preferred vendor, Ecolab, would be called in to conduct a thorough investigation of the room. In the rare event bed bugs are found, our experts follow industry-leading processes to eliminate all life stages of bed bugs from the room by targeting the insect’s unique biology and behavior patterns. The room would not be returned to inventory until the pest elimination expert and hotel management are confident the problem is eliminated.

Again, we are happy to report that the Memphis Marriott Downtown has not had a confirmed outbreak of Bed Bugs.

There has been an increase in the number of bed bug reports at both the national and a global level. Some theories for this are the expanded media attention to the issue; the continued growth of the number of global travelers; and changes in the regulation of chemicals impacting the treatment of bed bugs. Moreover, the incidence of bed bug presence across the Marriott system continues to be rare.

We are committed to the assurance that you, our guest, have an outstanding experience while visiting with us, and we certainly wish to know of any concerns you have, relating to bed bugs or otherwise, that would hinder your stay in any way. If you have feedback you would like to share, please call us at 901-527-7300.

Sincerely,

Hotel Management

I seen a bed bug on my shirt and i wiped it on to the floor where I killed it with my shoe. I then called the hotel front desk and the worker agreed it was a dead be bug. they moved me to a new room with out spraying it down and in the meantime i noticed i was itching on my leg and stomach. I now have a swollen leg with a bite. The manager told me that they never had a bed bug problem and tried to say it was another type of bug bite. B.S

I stayed here on Friday, August, 19, 2011 due to flight cancelation. I have bites on my left arm, left knee and left foot all in the breakfast, lunch, dinner pattern. I saw no visible signs of bugs either there or since I've been home but taking no chances. Have exterminator coming in the morning and have suitcase bagged and outside. These bites itch so bad and nothing is working. They didn't show up until Sunday so didn't think much of it until I began to research the type of bites after no cr

eams worked. Apparently it can take a few days for them go appear. Not happy about the possibility of having brought them home. I will never stay at this hotel again.

April 2011: I previously had no experience with bedbugs and had no idea to be weary. I brought them all the way back home with me: four states away. It was a horrific experience. Stay away from this hotel!

I attended the NACCHO conference in Memphis July 14-16. I work for the local health department, and am aware of bedbugs, so everytime I stay in a hotel, I strip the bed to look for signs. Upon turning over the duvet, a bedbug was stuck on the white underside. I requested another room, and was moved to a very nice room after complaining. I did not experience any bites.

Aug 1 2009

It took 4 months to diagnose the bites, I was tested for everything. To then find a nest in my suitcase when I started to pack for winter vacation.

Finally bug free a year later, we are praying no more show up. Haven't had activity in 3 monthes, but kbow that they can live almost a year without feeding.

My boyfriend came home from His trip to Memhis with the most disgusting looking bites all over his feet and legs. I took a look at photos available online and they look exactly like bed bug bites. Except 100 times worse than any of these photos. I am convinced that the downtown Marriot has a bedbug infestation.

Wife returned home from a stay at this hotel (July 12-16/08)with red, itchy spots all over her legs. Just assumed it was an alergic reaction to something. When when they didn't go away after a couple days I began researching and now have no doubt that it was bed bugs. Just praying she didn't bring any home!!!
