We stayed here in early Dec, 2010. The mattresses were encased in a bed bug protective bag. We found a bed bug crawling on the lap shade. I am fully aware of bed bug infestation issues as I work in the industry. I captured the bed bug and called mgmt. They sent up a hotel maintenance guy with the hotel mgr who claimed it was a spider. Spiders have 8 legs, this bed bug had 6. They refused to acknowledge there was a problem and did not discuss it any further. Of course a hotel will not listen to t
hese concerns as they fear for their reputation. I would not recommend staying here.

On behalf of the Comfort Inn Manhattan, please allow me to reach out to you regarding your stay at our hotel. We take every report of bed bugs very seriously. The health and safety of our guests, along with cleanliness of our hotel are top priorities. If a guest reports that he or she may have found bed bugs we take swift action. We immediately place the room out of service and contact a nationally recognized pest control expert to inspect the room and take the necessary steps to address the
problem. We conduct extensive training with our housekeeping staff and have an efficient daily inspection program in place to identify any potential issues in advance. I invite you to contact me directly in order to speak about this matter in more detail. We encourage our guests to promptly report any alleged incidents so we can quickly address the situation.

The last two days we noticed red marks on our bodies. They were itching us a lot. When we came back home to Europe I saw a doctor who confirmed the bites from bedbugs. We are not sure if bedbugs were already at hotel room on a day we arrived there or they appeared with the new clothes we bought in New York. Anyway the hotel was clean but bedbugs can spread very quickly thats'why I would like to inform you to avoid their spread.
