Reserved two connecting rooms at the Crown Plaza Hotel Pittsfield. One room from 8/14 for 4 nights and other room 8/15 for 3 nignts. Stayed in first room for one night no problem, then moved to second room and bit in AM 8/17. Developed the 3 bite pattern indicative of bedbug bite and informed front desk after returning to hotel 8/17.
I was informed that the manager was not in until next day first call and later told I could move to another floor . I decided to stay in first room and no
other bites occured. Refund for 8/17 given by manager and called later to report a pest control company from Springfield Ma 60 minutes from Pittsfield inspected room and did not find any bugs(aren't there any pest control service in Pittsfield?)
My daughter in a nurse in Baltimore City and confirm that bite is 90% positively a bedbug bite. I have pictures of the bite from the Crown Plaza taken in room 8/17, yes it looks like most bedbug pictures on the internet. My problem is there is not policy in place to help hotel guest. First they should have written material in how to aleviate pain from bite, prevent bringing pest into home, offer plastic bags, use of dryers to heat clothes, buy mattress incasements.
Bedbugs are a problem but I feel the hotel industry in not truthful and helpful to travelers. We will accept that bedbug are here until a way to eradicate them is found - just be honest and feel our itch and pain. Work on a policy of support for guests not denial.
