We stayed 1 night at the Super8 on 4/25/2014. I contacted Wynham hotels 4/29/2014 regarding our stay at the Super8 in Florence KY via there website, because I had several bed bugs bits that appeared on my legs and arm. They must have pass the email to the general manager.
5/1/2014 Super8 General Manager Response:
I am very sorry about the issues. I promise you, we will take necessary steps to make sure this kind of situation does not happen again in the future. We take guest complaints very
seriously and strive to make it up to you. We do not have bed bugs at the property, however it is possible for them to get in a room if somebody carries them in. But we do preventative maintenance every other week to make sure this does not happen. Also, as far as your other issues are concerned, i do not know what specific issues you are referring to but again i do sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We would love to have another chance to cater to you and make it up to you and i will personally make sure you do not have the issues that you previously had. Also, I would discount your room by 20% for the inconvenience that was caused.
5/2/2014 My Response:
Thank you for the prompt response. Here are the other issues we had:
1. We couldn’t get into Room 217 we was originally assigned. There was another guess across from us having the same problem during this time. My husband went to get the entry card corrected but I informed him I didn’t want to stay there especially after on our way to Room 217 there was a man setting on the steps talking on his cell phone. The desk clerk talked my husband into staying by telling him she would give him one of the completed remodeled rooms (Room 113) since the hotel was under renovations.
2. Issues with remodeled room 113:
a. Toilet seat was broken
b.I tripped on bathroom tiles that came up.
c. Carpet was filthy.
d. Bed sheets was dingy.
e. Bed blanket looked like it had never be
washed. I'm aware this isn't done daily.
The bed was also made poorly
f.Had to unplugged fridge to use microwave.
g. Tub faucet dripped.
h. Soda machine was empty.
I don’t expect hotel staff to admit to having bed bugs. I have pictures showing where I was bitten on my legs and arm. I went online to check the bed bugs registry and this hotel has over hundred complaints. I don’t believe they all are making false reports. I’m also not looking for any discounts on future visits to this hotel because I will never stay here again.
Broke down and parts runner dropped me off. Asked for a 1st floor room said ok got 209 second floor was told no clean rooms on first floor so I lugged my 100 pound suitcase upstairs to find room was not cleaned called the desk was told it would be worked out. Lugged suitcase back down stairs waited in lobby 10 minutes was told it was clean. Asked for a phone charger said would send one up.
Lugged suitcase back up stairs room was the same. Cleaner came in made the bed I asked for comfo
rter be left off. Shower curtain had crusty dead cockroaches stuck to it toilet was plugged up spider in tub remote only changed channels.though about calling a cab but after being up for 24 hours in a snowstorm I passed out and never did get the charger after 3 calls. Had to wait by lobby computer to charge off USB connection. Nasty place.Never again!
BED BUGS!!!! VERY NASTY HOTEL. PEOPLE ARE LIVING IN THIS HOTEL. MY CHECK IN WAS 11-14-2013 WENT INTO THE ROOM AND AIR CONDITIONER WAS NON FUNCTIONAL MANY HOLES IN THE BEDDING, FLOOR WAS DIRTY, AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF THERE WERE MANY BED BUGS, AS SOON AS I SAW THESE BUGS, I PACKED MY THINGS AND PUT THEM IN MY CAR, WENT TO THE FRONT DESK WITH A BED BUG IN A PLASTIC CUP AND DUMPED IT OUT ON THE COUNTER, THE GIRL WORKING TOLD ME TO GET THE BUG OUT OF THE HOTEL I TOLD HER THAT THIS BUG WAS NOT THE ONLY
ONE AS THEY WERE EVERYWHERE, SHE OFFERED NO RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM I TOLD HER I WAS LEAVING. I WENT TO THE COMFORT INN AT 2:30 AM AND GOT A REALLY NICE CLEAN ROOM. I CALLED SUPER 8 CORPORATE OFFICE AND FILED A COMPLAINT, THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD QUARANTINED THAT ROOM.......LOL AND I GOT A "LECTURE" FROM A GUY WITH A VERY STRONG INDIAN ACCENT ABOUT "HOW BED BUGS ARE DEVIOUS LITTLE CREATURES AND THAT THEY CAN TRAVEL ANYWHERE ON PEOPLE'S BAGS." I INFORMED HIM THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE TRAVELING WITH ME! AND I HAD LEFT THE HOTEL, HE ASKED WHY I DID NOT ASK FOR ANOTHER ROOM, I SAID IF ONE ROOM HAS BED BUGS THEY ALL DO. THIS HOTEL IS NOT SAFE MANY DRUG ADDICTS LIVING IN IT. KNOCK IT DOWN AND REBUILD!!!!
We have unfortunately had to stsy here a while..we have had them the ENTIRE time..we have asked for help..they never come, we have sprayed and sprayed but them found them on the laundry they bring us...They are EVERYWHERE here!! DO NOT STAY HERE..Sam WILL accuse you of bringing them in..There was also A DEA drug raid a couple months back and he was the ringleader in that..DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Go somewhere else..PLEASE for your own safety and health!!
Bugged out on 07/03/2012
On 07/01/2012 we checked in to this hotel from out of town to attend my sisters funeral. We were given a weekly discounted rate but on the second night we found a bed bug and took it to the manager/owner "Sam" Sam accused us of planting it and refused to not only give us a refund but reported he was going to charge us for the weekly rate as planned!!! We are currently disputing this and have contacted the BBB. STAY AWAY!!!

Stay away!! Last night I was traveling from AR back to MI. I had really wanted to push closer to OH, to make the trip this morning into Detroit shorter- so I stayed overnight in Florence, KY at the Super 8. I was given room 213 and had used the coupon from the KY travel/hotel booklet passed out at the rest areas. This meant I paid $51 (cash) with tax. I didn't check in till 1am and was quite tired but the parking lot was full and the lobby area seemed well taken care of (esp after looking at t
he Motel 6 and Knights Inn in the same area- scary!). But, that's about all I have nice to say about this hotel. It was hot as hades in the hallways and the window was wide open on the staircase- with no screen! I found my room on the 2nd floor and went inside. The light had been left on and there too it was hot as anything. I set my bags down on the desk and turned on the A/C. It was broken and dusty looking, but worked fine. I always do a bedbug check on hotel beds- so I pulled back the sheets to check the mattress seams. The top mattress appeared clean, but the bottom had several specks of black that I couldn't identify. I went to pull the sheets further back to inspect more- and I saw that they were stained- one spot looked to be blood, the other larger spots I am not sure about. They appeared to be wet, but were in fact dry. The heavier blanket had what looked to be nailpolish on it and that was enough for me to decide I would just sleep in a chair since I was going to be there for only a few hours before I had to head out in the AM. There was a blue, VERY very worn recliner chair in the corner. I lifted the seat on that and found there was debris under the seat cushion: 2 plastic knives still in their see-thru wrappers and what looked to be food crumbs. Ok, so I wouldn't be sitting there either. The black office chair at the desk was new looking and clean, so I sat there and snoozed till 6am. The lamps on the wall were dusty and had a "XL" t-shirt sticker (that you pull off before wearing) on one side. The tv was old (VHS capable if that gives you an idea) and broken- 2 remotes were on top of it and neither worked, I had to manually turn the tv on. The bathroom appeared to be clean but there was hair on the drain and the small towel that the soap/shampoo was on (on the side of the tub) was dirty. There were also several stains in the carpet. By far, my worst experience at a hotel EVER. DO NOT stay here! I took pictures of everything as proof since they claim to be AAA verified, but now I am doubly glad I did that, seeing the problems other folks have had with the Management here as well. I am thankful that I did not see any bugs, nor do I have any itchy areas/bites, but I believe it is ONLY because I stayed out of the bed. I never fully undressed so no bare feet in the room either, I drove alone and decided I'd just shower/change at home. I guess in the end, I too got that same "coupon" room. I am honestly astounded at the lack of cleaning the housekeeping does (or really, doesn't do) and will be notifying AAA amd KY health Dept! **If there is a way to upload pics here, please let me know and I will share them!**
Our out of town driver was checked into this location 3/22/2011 and had bed bug bites all over when he checked out. This is an inexcusable occurrance and DO NOT EVER STAY AT THIS LOCATION.

My family and i checked in the hotel on august 17 2010 i checked in about 12:30pm well to start things off the front desk clerk was on her cell phone and she was talking on it when we walked in and made us wait about ten min before she even got off the chair in the back office! this was a blonde girl with alot off visible tatoos which was very un proffesional also it seemed like she had no idea what she was doing she kept telling me my credit card was declined when there is no way it could have
been after standing there for 20min why she tried to call someone for help! finally a man came down in his bath robe?? they checked me into 219 the keys did not work i had to walk down to the desk 3 times to get new keys! we got into bed and around 2:30am i felt something on my arm and i turened on the light and it was a red bug! and then i pulled the blankets back and there were about 15 more in the bed so i called down to the desk and the girl that was working said that they recently had a couple rooms that had them, but not the room i was in and im not to sure if she knew that bed bugs spread? so she offered to move me,and i said why would i want to be moved if this hotel has many rooms that have them?she said her manager would be in at 10:30 and he would put the money back on my card, then i was so upet at this piont i packed up my things and left i called back at 11:30 and he was not there called again at 1 and he showed up he said i brought them into his hoel and said he was going to charge me to clean his hotel so sure enough when i checkd my account there were 2 more cahrges on my card when is front desk clerk had told me that they had them! what kind of hotel is this im not sure where they find these people to work here? I will never stay here again and I WILL TELL EVERYONE THAT THIS PLACE HAS BUGS BUGS BUGS THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN ITS SUCH A DUMP

My family and I decided to have a mini getaway for the Easter weekend. Things had been tuff at work and I needed to get away! We hadn\'t made any plans until that Saturday and called Super 8 after looking up the hotels in Florence Kentucky. For the budget we were on and the amenities it seem like a great place for a few days. We checked in around 7pm Saturday night and immediately showered and went to bed. We bought our 6 month olds bassinett with us so he would not have to sleep in the bed.
Our 15 and 2 year old girls shared a bed. I woke up the next morning to change my son. The sun was up and I had laid him on the bed to change him when a brown bug crawled from under the pillow on the side that I slept on. My husband immediately came and squashed him and we went on about our daily routine of having fun. I had never seen a bed bug and had never had reason to worry about them. This however was the lowest priced hotel we had ever stayed in as famly. Well the following morning, Easter Sunday, having not given that one little bug a second thought, I been to itch and bumps began to appear on the elbows of each arm one on my neck and on my thighs and legs. There was even one that was the first to start itching between my big toe and the next. I immediatley though flea bites. Ok. I had been outside and sat at the stone table to read for about an hour the previous day and again on Sunday and the kids were running around playing while I read. The grass needed cutting but not so much where it would ward of folks from utilizing the tables. I had to think this through. I had on long sleeves, just like we all did for 52 degrees, long pants, socks and sneakers as well as a hooded jacket. This was the family out fit for the weekend. I never had on shorts and the only time I was bare armed was after showering and in bed. After coming home, the bites still itched and were spreading, I looked up chiggers, not knowing what else to look for and then found a picture of bed bugs which was exactly what we saw and smashed!!! I was horrified, however after reading the one blog about the couple who had been moved to another room only to find more and then be ill treated by management and not compensated I decided that this was a lesson learn and that we would change our card and notify all friends, family and anyone looking to stay at a hotel to not stay at this one. By the way, we stayed in room 240!!!!
We checked into the Super 8 hotel in Florence, Kentucky on 7928 Dream street (more like nightmare street) on August 6,2008 around 8:15pm hit the indoor pool for a bit then headed up to our room. Around 1:00am I was laying in the bed and felt something crawling on my arm. Turned on the light to find a tiny red in color bug crawling on me. Upon turning on more lights I found a bigger bug on my son which resembled a tick. I calmly took the bug off of him put it into a zip lock bag and took it
down to the hotel clerk who was very apologetic and offered to move us into a different room. Gathering our things and moving to another room we ended up finding close to 20 more bugs in the two beds in which we were sleeping in we then showered us and our children then took off all the blankets of the new room and put them into the hallway and searched the new bed completely and just kept the white sheets on so we could see any other bugs if they were in this room too . I ventured down to the computer in the lobby and googled bugs in a hotel and found an exact picture of the bugs we found in our room which turned out to be bed bugs. I couldn't sleep at all I was up until 5:30-6:00 am sitting on the corner of the bed with a flashlight watching my family sleep. In the morning the cleaning people gave us giant garbage bags to tie our things up so that we could take our stuff to a laundry matt so that we did not bring the bugs home with us. They had even told us earlier that month that they had bed bugs in room 236 which was right next to our room in 240 so this wasn't the first time they had them and that Kentucky has a lot of issues with them. They also told us that they were not to clean the room because it needed to be sprayed. The night time clerk told us that her manager would be in at 10:30 am and he would help compensate us and take care of it. Well the manager didn't show up until around noon and he said that his hotel has never had bed bugs. He was very rude to us and said that WE brought the bed bugs to HIS hotel and he is going to charge us to clean his hotel. He even told us to get off his property that we were trespassing yet we had not even checked out due to the fact we were waiting for him to arrive to take care of the problem. Things got so upsetting I finally called the police to try to help us. There was really nothing they could do because they said it was a civil suit. The officer did tell us thou that we might want to cancel the credit/debit card that we used because they had all of our information and might be able to make additions charges on our card. Sure enough we called our bank and they had made two additional charges on top of the room charge which emptied our account so we didn't even have gas money to go back to Michigan. The manager even brought out drug paraphernalia and showed it to the police saying it was from our room!! He told the officers that we were bringing bed bugs in his hotel and setting them free. I also contacted the Kentucky Health Department about this matter and am working with our bank to try to dispute these charges. This was the most terrifying hotel experience I have EVER encountered and needless to say we will NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.
