On December 30th, 2012, my husband, daughter, and in-laws checked into the Courtyard in Bowling Green, KY. We were rushed to get get to a wedding shortly after check-in, so we put our suitecases on the bed, changed clothes quickly, and headed to the wedding. We arrived back at our hotel after midnight to get some sleep. At 6:50am, because of the light of the TV, I saw a "bug" on my pillow. At first I thought it was a nat. A few seconds later, I saw two bugs on my pillow. I immediately jumpe

d up and woke my husband up, who was asleep in the other bed. I turned on the lights and we pulled back the covers and he also had bugs all over his pillows, sheets, and himself. I'm pregnant, and was very startled, knowing that these bugs had bitten me all night. I called the front desk and the manager, Autumn, came up immediately. She seemed very shocked and all she stated was that we will be refunded our Marriott points and that we will be compensated immensley. Other than that, she stated that through her training of bed bugs, the hotel never told her how to handle the situation if customers were the ones who found the bugs. She was only trained as if housekeeping found the bedbugs. So I had to make all the calls, Health Dept., my boss (who is a Doctor), ect. to learn that we had to leave our suitcase and all of our clothes in the hotel room. I took pictures of the bugs, and even put some in a zip-lock bag to bring back with me just incase I needed to send them out to be tested myself. I had to document with photographs each item of clothing, which we left behind. I was told that we would remain updated, since we were traveling from Virginia. That has NOT happened. I have called the hotel for updates and have not heard anything. The manager, Autumn, finally got on the phone with me and told me she knows nothing. A rep from Courtyard, Laurie, has been in contact with me and told me that even she has heard nothing as she cannot seem to get ahold of the manager of the hotel. I am extremely disappointed with how the managers of the hotel are choosing to deal with this situation. It certainly was not ideal for my family to go through.
