I stayed 2 days in this hotel. November 30th and December 1st, 2013. I had noticed some itchy spots on my hands after the first night sleeping there, but thought maybe I was having an allergic reaction to something (didn't realize they were bites yet). Then my second night there I woke up at 4am because I was being bitten on my back. I turned on the light and SAW an adult bed bug as well as a nymph crawling on the sheets. I captured them both in a cup and called the front desk. No one answer
ed. I did not go back to bed and early that morning (December 2) I checked out early and complained. I showed them the bugs, complained that they didn't answer their phone, and demanded a refund. The front desk guy only wanted to argue that I didn't call the right number. Eventually he said he would issue a refund after talking to management. I received a voice mail saying they would refund my money, but then received an email later from booking.com saying that the Continental Inn reported that I had canceled and therefore they would be charging me a 60$ cancellation fee. I explained to booking.com that was not the case and that the motel had bed bugs. I eventually got my refund, but I thought it was very shady that they tried to say that I had canceled. Management said they would be treating the rooms, but I wonder if they really will.
I had over 50 bites on my body from sleeping there only two nights. My face, hands, arms, back, and legs. The mattress was definitely at least 20 years old and the fact there were nymphs that meant those bugs were breeding up a storm. The place tries to seem upscale but really its filthy. I heard the desk guy talk about how they were going to get new shutters for the rooms, but how about they get mattresses that aren't from the 80s? Disgusting.
